Exploring Gender, Identity & Performance
Since 2019, König has been offering Drag King workshops that invite people to explore gender, performance, and identity in a creative and supportive environment. Over time, we’ve developed our own pedagogy methods and designed various workshop formats for different groups and settings.
Our workshops aim to help participants to engage and explore their gender identity, discover new ways of artistic expression and learn tools to create a drag performance.
Our workshops focus on some of the key parts of the drag creation process:
Drag History
Character Development
Performance & Lipsync
Makeup
Outfit & Crafting
We follow the natural flow of preparing a performance, starting with an idea, diving into research, and bringing it all to life on stage.
🔹 WorkShow (1 day)

From 4 to 7 days, this is an in-depth introduction to drag for a group of people.

There is a possibility to add a graduation show in the end of the series where the participants perform for the first time together with professional Drag Performers.
🔹 König Season (5 months)
This series happens twice a year and consists of five workshops and four shows at Tipsy Bear Berlin where the participants get the chance of performing for the first time on a queer stage next to Buba Sababa and another professional co-host.
A group of 8 people will be selected through an open call and will create a group where they support and encourage each other in a journey of gender and self exploring.

Before receiving the funding, Buba Sababa was giving all the workshops with their own resources. König has grown since then, and now our teachers are artists from the international drag queer community in Berlin.
The Workshop Manager Ruco laPesto and the Project Leader Buba Sababa, make a very exclusive selection of the best artists with expertise in the different topics of the workshops:
Our team of teachers is formed among others by Godx Noirphiles, Afro Disiacc, Nancy Nutter, Zero Pilnik, Alexander Cameltoe, Caine Panik, Lau Perrea, Mona Ladoll, Dornika ...
