Exploring Gender, Identity & Performance
Since 2019, König has been offering Drag King workshops that invite people to explore gender, performance, and identity in a creative and supportive environment. Over time, we’ve developed our own pedagogy methods and designed various workshop formats for different groups and settings.
Our workshops aim to help participants to engage and explore their gender identity, discover new ways of artistic expression and learn tools to create a drag performance.
🔹 Pop-Up Workshops
We collaborate with youth centers, cultural spaces, and private organizations, adapting each workshop to each place and audience. These sessions bring Drag King culture to a wide range of spaces and communities, spreading the art of masculine performance.
🔹 Workshop Series
Funded by Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung, this series happens twice a year and consists of five workshops, each focusing on a key part of the drag creation process:
Drag History
Character Development
Performance & Lipsync
Makeup
Outfit & Crafting
We follow the natural flow of preparing a performance, starting with an idea, diving into research, and bringing it all to life on stage.
🔹 Tester Workshop
This is a compact 4–6 hour session that touches on all key elements of drag performance. Perfect for anyone curious to try drag for the first time!

Before receiving the funding, Buba Sababa was giving all the workshops with their own resources. König has grown since then, and now our teachers are artists from the international drag queer community in Berlin.
The Workshop Manager Ruco laPesto and the Project Leader Buba Sababa, make a very exclusive selection of the best artists with expertise in the different topics of the workshops:
Our team of teachers is formed among others by Godx Noirphiles, Afro Disiacc, Nancy Nutter, Zero Pilnik, Alexander Cameltoe, Caine Panik, Lau Perrea, Mona Ladoll, Dornika ...
